Jenny’s 24th birthday
So because we were busy making Levi’s birthday video, we didn’t get a chance to talk about Jenny’s birthday! We’ll rewind a few days and tell you about it now.
We have a helper that comes and watches our kids and teaches them Chinese. We’ve had a helper that has come for almost half a year now, and we really trust her with our kids so we let her watch them while we went out to have a nice breakfast at Starbucks. Luckily for me, it’s next-door to a McDonald’s, so I snagged some breakfast there and we sat in Starbucks enjoying each other’s company.
We came home and spent time with our kids and then in when dinner time came around, we went on a double-date with our friends and got some nice Italian food. (Pizza)
Tomorrow is a big day for us because Levi is going to be starting his FIRST day of preschool! We can’t wait and we’ll tell you all how that went when we get a chance.
In other news, the school semester has started up once again! I started today off teaching 3rd grade students. I had only two classes. I will return there tomorrow and next week I start teaching at the kindergarten. Can’t wait! So many kids, so much craziness, so little time.

Levi’s Birthday
Okay I’m going to post about Jenny’s birthday tomorrow, but for today, I’m going to talk about Levi’s. Mainly because we have a video we’re releasing and I’m very excited about it. More on that in a bit.
This will be a multimedia post today. I hope you enjoy it :)
Last night, we decorated our apartment for Levi. When Levi woke up, he saw the decorations and loved it! We hung paper chains, had Thomas the Train decorations, we made signs, we hung a banner… It was all so great. Check out the pictures below.

Happy 3rd Birthday Levi!
Jenny made some Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast.
After breakfast, we went to the biggest, best play-place in the city. It is awesome!
After the play-place, we had naps and when we woke up, we had our friends over for a party! Stylin’.
We finished the night watching some Charlie & Lola ‘til Levi went to sleep. It was an awesome day! Very eventful, very energetic, very exciting, very… successful.
I want to leave you with a new video, but first: a little backdrop. In late October of last year, we made a video called “Levi Says” (You can watch it by clicking here). It was a short video of all the cute things Levi says every day that most people miss. We heard a lot of people really enjoyed it, so I’ve made another. Levi Says 2.0. You can see it below. Ma Lin's Birthday
I have fallen a little behind on the blogging. Sorry for that!
I have a few things to share about, but I'll share about two of them for now.
Firstly, On the 10th I got the opportunity to go to a Chinese friend's birthday party! He had invited the both of us to go, but Levi wasn't doing so well, and Jenny told me that I could go, since we've started to become good friends. I met up with his wife and we went to a restaraunt. It's my understanding that when it comes to parties, they are typically done at restaraunts, because people usually can't fit many people at their apartments. We met up with him, and we all got the chance to enjoy a hotpot meal.
These meals usually consist of a circular table with a pot in the middle, which has a type of meat (we had a whole duck in there), and they turn the heat on from underneath the table, and the meat boils in the broth they have. It's a great experience. When it starts to boil, they give you cups so you can scoop some broth out and drink it almost like soup. Then when the duck starts to boil more, you start to pick at it with your chopsticks and eat it that way. When you've had a bit of that, they throw more meats or vegetables in there, which you eat, or have some more broth, etc. It's great because the taste keeps changing. It's a great meal. It's a little more on the expensive side because they expect four or more people to be eating it. It's around $20.
A nice cultural difference. When you go to birthday parties at restaraunts, the birthday boy/girl pays for the meal! It's just best to bring a gift! (We brought him cookies homemade by Jenny, since he loves sweets so much.) They don't have desserts like those cookies here, so it's a good experience for him; he loves them.
Secondly, we finally have heating in our apartment! Here in China, (at least in Xi'an) all the apartments are without heating until November 15th. The heating is on until March 15th. The thing is, the heat is on constantly, and you cannot change the temperature. Needless to say, it gets TOO hot, we hear. It's just starting to turn on now, so we don't know that feeling yet. We are very glad the heat is coming on though, as spaceheaters don't work the best. We hear we'll most likely need to have our air conditioning run sometimes, and let our heating and air conditioning fight it out. :)

Levi's First Birthday

Levi officially turned one year old on the 26th!
Our wonderful party turned out great! Jenny did such a good job setting the place up to celebrate Levi's first year of life. We had slide-shows going, balloons popping, and friends flourishing. We were really excited about this day, and were so glad it turned out the way it did!
Stay tuned! Tomorrow I (Jeremy) start my first day of school!

Jenny's Birthday
We're running behind on the blogs for the past few days, but I just wanted to write about Jenny's birthday really quick!
I had planned on taking Jenny to the Shaanxi History Museum. Jenny loves history, and I thought she'd like to go somewhere unique. The museum was BEAUTIFUL! (From the outside) We didn't get in, because it's closed on Mondays. We saw some military personnel doing training in the courtyard, so maybe that is the reason. We were bummed about that, but we just showed the taxi driver a card to the downtown Starbucks, and off we went!
It was really hot outside, and when we finished our drinks, we walked around for a bit, and found an underground crazy mall that eventually ended up being seven stories tall. We went down some stairs to cross the street (as the do downtown), and then we went down some more steps into an Apple Store, then we went through their store, through another store, and then ended up in the middle of a mall, with seven sets of escalators! That was quite a treasure. Every level has something different (Electronics, Shoes, Clothes, etc.).
Then we hopped in a taxi, went to a different mall, got Jenny some nice shoes. They were originally $20, but I talked them down to $15 or so. She really liked those shoes, and wanted them for a while. Then we went home, watched some House, and went to bed! It was a great day!
