So guess what? We've been here for quite a long time now (over five months!) and have only just found out YESTERDAY that we are able to flush our toilet paper. For those of you who don't know, many, many nations are not able to flush their toilet paper. I've heard it's because of their toilets or their plumbing, or a combination of the two. Some also still do not flush the paper simply because of culture, even if they have perfectly capable toilets/plumbing. It's a way of life here. So they just throw the paper waste into a small trash bin which sits right next to the toilet. However, a Chinese friend came over and mentioned yesterday that we are, in fact, able to flush it, because our toilet is one of the newer ones. How nice! Now we feel even more at home :)
