Hello everyone!
It’s been a while, so there’s quite a bit to catch you up on.
Firstly, I’m finding that in my character studies, I’m reading characters everyday on the streets, in forms, in the schools I teach at, on TV… Everywhere. I’m also finding that as far as writing the characters go, I never actually write them outside of my own studies. With that said, I’m going to shift my focus on reading the characters, as opposed to reading and writing. This is way more practical for now and will be a much quicker way to learn characters. If I choose to, I can always shift my focus back to writing and it won’t negatively affect me.
Secondly, Jenny’s parents are coming to see us next week! We are beyond excited for this. We can’t wait to show them the sights and connect them with the people you hear so much about in this blog. Oh, and we’ll make sure to introduce them to some tasty Chinese food as well.
Lastly, due to several circumstances beyond our control, I will not be able to continue working here in China. I can’t go into it here on this blog, but the issues are visa related so it’s not because I don’t want to; it’s because I can’t. What will I do with my spare time?
I’m going to return to a university and study Chinese in a formal setting for eight hours each week.
Sorry this post is getting so long! There was a lot to share.
We’re still waiting to see if my certification went through. We’ll be waiting on that for another two weeks or so. I’ll be keeping you posted.
Until next time,
Jeremy, Jenny, Levi, & Liam
